The Changing Face of British Cons...I mean Coins
To mark the change in British coins, the Royalmint is releasing a limited edition set of 'Standard', 'Deluxe' and 'Executive' Proof coins. See below -
The 'Deluxe edition' is 50 quid and is limited to 15,000 pieces worldwide, and the latter 'Executive edition', 80 quid, and limited to 5,000 pieces worldwide.
As far as I've seen, unless I'm missing something, the 30quid
difference is in the limited-ness of the BOX. If so, it would be more
true to say that it is the box that is limited to 5,000 pieces and not the
coin-set. But, of course, such info is hidden behind the phrase, 'limited
edition', and not, 'limited BOX' - which would just serve to reveal some of the
superficial and asinine vanity that sometimes fuels the collecting market - and support for
the monarchy as well. This time, with a royal stamp behind
it.

(Now not to make a mockery of you dear Ed... as I'm sure this article was meant in all sincerity, rather than humour.. yes.. we've touched on this before), but just have to say (regardless of the intended tone), that its a brilliant post! This dry observation; the short, sweet and to the point post - is an excellent bitter-sweet "Ed's experience/Column" style. It gave quite an enjoyable chuckle, which made my visit, once again, kind sir, an absolute pleasure!
You're not making a 'mockery' of it at all. It was rather a tongue-in-cheek thought typed out with a smile;). I love this country, not because it 'ain't full of shit', but because the sewerage system is quite well-maintained via local empathy.
Hi Enguist,
I doubt they're going to give the box away for free, but i'm sure they will not be able to justify its 30quid price if sold on its own - thus the 'limited edition' phrase;).
