Singaporedaily.net editors - sexist, monocultural populists, and prominence worshippers?
“
Every oversight is diagnosis and prognosis.

The following picture fronts, or tops, Singaporedaily.net’s, ‘Weekly Roundup : Week 26’.
See a problem with it? No? Take another look. No?
Then my oft-quoted phrase applies – ‘it’s easier to suggest a solution than to not be a part of the problem’. It applies to all of us. But in our efforts to be a part of the movement of progressive change, we must keep this in mind lest we contemporaneously serve as its ball-and-chain.
The
problem with the picture, or the Freudian-slip that it illustrates, is the
picture of MJ being given greater prominence than that of Anthony Yeo (3rd
from the left), the recently deceased contributor to the oppositional cause. The
worship of prominence, has, as its
bedfellows, susceptibility to the salient, the fetishisation of
tradition, the
penchant for conformity, reflexive discounting of detail, racialisation
of politics, amongst a host of
others. In this, is yet again evidenced, the opposition being an
unwitting product and part of the proposition. And the above picture
speaks very loud to the subconscious, thus reinforcing that which it
takes to produce the above picture, not appreciate its significance,
and perpetrate the host of problems that will inevitably issue forth
from being thus 'rounded up' and penned in through the psychological
warfare the opposition frequently, albeit unwittingly, engages with
itself. I don't know what the editors of Singaporedaily.net are
thinking about, but they obviously aren't doing enough of it. This is not the first time either.
I suppose, as the editors of singaporedaily.net are quite sexist, racist and monoculturally populist,
as are most of the opposition, such oversights as indicated in these
pictures, would come quite naturally to them. It is in this populist
stance that they are inspired to give visual predominance to MJ as
opposed to Anthony Yeo. And it is also in this self-absorbed stance
that they can arrogantly provide links to my arguments against their
sexism-cum-racism on their site whilst relying on the selfsame sexism
and racism on the part of the other 'oppositional' elements, whom are
themselves appealed to by the popular, to not take them to task with
regards to my critique. It's alright if you are guilty of an oversight, so long as it is rectified, failing which, the perspectival foundation for the production and emergence of such oversights is inevitably strengthened As this is not the case with the said editors, thus my assertion that they are as I have stated. Besides being a slap in the face of true
empathetic representativeness, it incontrovertibly serves to reinforce existing biases.
And if you're inclined to retort with a, 'Hey, you're right, but it's just Singaporedaily
and not the rest of us'. Then I'll say, 'if you didn't realise it at
first glance, then you're an incorporated part of the problem. I use a more unforgiving standard to detect my own deficiencies - in the past, the present and so will it be in the future. That is one of the reasons I moved from simply 'looking up' to, for instance, JBJ, to studying him for his relevant flaws. - something which precious few, if any, amongst the 'opposition' have done to date but which is sorely needed to move the calibre of the 'opposition' up more than a notch. It seems that they mirror the proposition in defending their own. Silly people.
Remember...
Every
oversight does not come without a horde of oversights in its wake.
Every oversight is diagnosis and prognosis. Believe that, and you've
got a chance to move from childishly 'playing at being opposition', to
becoming its embodiment.'
All it takes for evil to triumph is for a few good wo/men to think they are good.

I just visited the singaporedaily site and the first thought that came to my mind was 'what is the objective of this site?' There is a picture of the Daily ChioBu on the left banner and JBJ's on the right, with a bigger pic of a smiling MJ capturing the attention in the centre. I totally agree with you on the subconsciousness displayed by the editors of this site.
I find it extremely sexist and derogatory to have the ChioBu's section. Why isn't there a similar section on man? Why are women only deem as 'objects' for the pleasures of others. If no one have any problem with that and this site, i think there is a bigger issue.
Like yourself, i often wonder why we have a smiling oriental on the left and a disgruntled JBJ on the right. The left seems to compromise the right in this case. But having a section on 'men' would simply make 2 wrongs of a wrong. But i know that you are simply illustrating the bias of the 'editors' as you recognise it to be 'extremely sexist and derogatory'. Good one. Perhaps you should lead the opposition instead of the other silverbacks.
Anyway, as i predicted, the censors of sgdaily - i won't call them 'editors' as it insults the term - did not link this article. I had already predicated this whole course of events as i had experienced similarly with other so-called 'opposition' elements in this country such as SGreview, SFD, etc. I just wanted to see if these girls and boys playing at being opposition have grown up over the past decade. And they obviously haven't.
My strategy was,
Firstly, i would write a nice article pointing out the problem with the 'Daily Chiobu' which i knew they would link as i (purposely) credited them in the first paragraph to disarm them. I also knew that since they were already posting links to my articles on a daily basis, i would be able to sneak in this subtle and nicely worded critique of them.
Secondly, I predicted that they wouldn't do anything about it as the majority would have no problem with it - thus illustrating my point that most of the opposition are fascist themselves - and hide behind the excuse that they have at least given me an opportunity to air my views - like the government with the NCMPs. Their strategy would be to give voice to dissent against them, and then to ignore it so that it will 'go away'. That is what generally happens in this country and in all social interactions i have engaged in. So i expected nothing less from these people given that this tendency was already strong amongst them in their other actions, focus, approach, and oversights.
Finally, i purposely pushed the envelope and made an outright allegation. And this, i predicted, would be ignored and remain unlinked on their site. During this period, they will not link my other articles for fear that people coming over here might see the article critical of them.
So, in other words, this was actually an experiment conducted to determine the grade of the opposition here. Unfortunately, as i had predicted, they failed quite miserably. Not only did few, if any, notice this problem, but few, if any, supported my critique. That makes them all complicit by apathy. A common problem here.
This is a reaction i have experienced in varying ways in this country. And these monkeys complain about the government whilst aping them and the general populace? Most hilarious actually. This whole strategy was employed to illustrate the problem that the 'editors' of sgdaily and the other oppositional elements are in their self-absorbed fascistic approach to anything here. It supports the perspective that they are significantly responsible for the fascitic harmony that is pervasive here and which founds the other problems they take issue with. In this, i have illustrated the problem most of them are, not for the purpose of ridiculing, but to enlighten. But, they've yet to come of democratic age, and hence, it will undermine them significantly as it already has.
They are obviously being led by the wrong people and perspectives.
I applaud your efforts and perseverance but it might prove futile this time. This is not a reflection of what you are but them.
Yes, I'm quite sure my efforts are futile.
It is being done by many here, including so called 'opposition' groups. But most, whatever the 'race', have fallen for their 'rightful place' - which explains why the idiots running sgdaily didn't realise what they were doing. It is founded on the pervasiveness of fascist harmony. You're right, it is certainly a 'reflection of them'.
Hence, none have noticed these to date except myself. But being acculturalised as self-absorbed sheep, they are most adept and comfortable at 'towing the line' of their leaders and their thus-reproduced biases. But I'll still say what has to be said for the sake of truth despite their being disabled from recognising it.
We can't all get on our knees just because they have confused their knees for their feet can we ;)
